In his speech, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán spoke about the church leader’s service in words of praise, and asked Mr Erdő to continue to love and support Hungary, and to honour secular leaders with his attention. “We are aware that we have entered an era of pandemics, wars and unrest, and it is evident that if there is no Christian unity on the issue of the protection of peace and the Christian heritage, we will perish. The Hungarian nation can only survive in peace, it is with this that we seek assistance from the Archbishop and our Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant brothers and sisters,” the Prime Minister stressed.
In his address, Archbishop Péter Erdő, too, spoke about the importance of peace; he said, at this time, we are all praying for peace because “everything is based on that”.
