Hungary is convinced that the beauty and nobility of the world’s greatest sport lies in the fact that this sport belongs to everyone, and cannot be claimed by the richest for their own benefit, Mr Orbán underlined.
He pointed out that Hungary supports UEFA and FIFA as well as the Hungarian Football Federation in the interest of protecting the integrity of competitions organised by associations, whether on a national or European level.
Already before the official announcement, on Sunday UEFA, together with the English Football Association, the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the Italian Football Federation condemned the creation of a Super League. UEFA will consider severe sanctions, and will, according to its communication, resort to all available measures to prevent the launch of the new championship. In addition to UEFA and the international federation (FIFA), British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron, too, criticised the idea of the establishment of a Super League.
