New Polish Prime Minister to visit Hungary at the beginning of January

Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski will accompany the Polish head of government on his visit to Budapest.

Mateusz Morawiecki has been Poland’s Prime Minister since 11 December after former Prime Minister Beata Szydlo resigned. Mateusz Morawiecki previously served as Minister of Development and Minister of Finance, and as Prime Minister he will continue to personally supervise both ministries.

Mr Morawiecki indicated at his appointment ceremony that his cabinet will be “a government of continuation” as regards the Szydlo Government. He summed up his main goals as “prosperity for families”, “well-paid jobs” and “affordable housing for all”.

Mr Orbán last paid an official visit to Warsaw in September where he had talks with then Prime Minister Beata Szydlo, Marek Kuchcinski, Marshal of the Sejm, Stanislaw Karczewski, Marshal of the Senate, and Jaroslaw Kaczynski, President of the governing Law and Justice Party (PiS).
