Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is not moving to the Castle

Mr. Havasi was responding to a demonstration by activists from the Párbeszéd opposition party outside the refurbishment project in Buda Castle.

The press chief said that the Prime Minister is satisfied with his current place of work, and is proud to have the privilege of working in one of the most beautiful buildings in the country and in Europe.

Mr. Havasi stressed that Parliament has expressly approved the relocation of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister from the Parliament Building. He added that during this parliament the offices of the Prime Minister and the Government will remain in the Parliament Building.

He said that in next year’s election the Hungarian people will decide who will use the building complex now under renovation as their workplace.

The press chief said that he does not see chaining oneself to buildings – as the protesters did – as “the most practical approach, because if opposition politicians continually chain themselves to different buildings here and there, who will run in the election?”
