Prime Minister Viktor Orbán saluted teachers in a message

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, the Prime Minister wrote that when in March 2020 the coronavirus pandemic reached our country, we did not yet know exactly what difficulties we would have to encounter, but we had to recognise soon that the fight against the pandemic required not only a swift changeover in health care, but equally in education.

In Mr Orbán’s view, despite the difficult circumstances, teachers as well as workers whose job it is to assist education made an exemplary effort despite the inconveniences and threats resulting from the struggle against the virus.

The Prime Minister wrote that the past almost eighteen months also testified to the fact that teachers adapted to the changed circumstances swiftly and effectively in the interest of the successful education of the future’s generation. He said thank you for the fact that teachers managed to replace physical-attendance education with a new mode of teaching with great inventiveness, and as a result, during the months of digital education outside the classroom, they succeeded not only in passing on the knowledge that can be acquired during lessons, but they equally managed to keep under control the educational processes that are necessary for students’ personality development as far as it was possible.

In his message, Mr Orbán further informed teachers that in the interest of improving working conditions, the government will continue the already started developments which – similar to education itself – did not stop for a single day during the period of the epidemic, and they will make every effort to further increase the recognition and appreciation of teachers’ work.
