At the meeting Mr Orbán reassured the Finnish Prime Minister that “Alexander Stubb’s slanderous allegations against Hungary cannot spoil excellent Hungarian-Finnish relations”, Bertalan Havasi said.
Alexander Stubb is one of the politicians who would like to run for the office of president of the European Commission as the lead candidate of the European People’s Party. However, the Hungarian Prime Minister made it clear several times in the past that, instead of Stubb who is considered to be pro-immigration, he supports the candidacy of the Bavarian Manfred Weber.
Last week Alexander Stubb said the EPP should consider expelling Fidesz led by Viktor Orbán from the party family. If Mr Orbán fails to respect the party family’s values, he must leave the EPP, the Finnish politician said in an interview given to the German media group Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland.
