Bishop of Diocese of Sokoto in Nigeria thanked Hungary for its help

In a letter of thanks sent to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, the Bishop of the Diocese of Sokoto in Nigeria described the aid worth EUR 1 million – which Hungary provided for the African diocese as part of the Hungary Helps Programme – as a vital lifeline. At the same time, he highlighted he was convinced that the Hungarian aid contributes to helping people in a difficult situation in their own country to stay in their native land, instead of leaving it.

Életfontosságú mentőkötélnek nevezte Orbán Viktornak írt köszönőlevelében a nigériai Sokoto megyéspüspöke azt az 1 millió eurós támogatást, amit Magyarország biztosított a Hungary Helps Program keretében az afrikai egyházmegyének; egyben kifejezte meggyőződését, hogy a magyar segítség hozzájárul a nehéz helyzetben lévő emberek hazájukban maradásához a kivándorlás helyett.

Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief, has said that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with two prominent Nigerian churchmen: Matthew Hassan Kukah, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sokoto; and Dacholom Datiri, President of the Church of Christ, a Reformed church.
