According to Mr Orbán, “it is uplifting for us all when the outstanding achievements of our compatriots are rewarded in the world, but on this occasion, we have reason to acknowledge with exceptional pride that after 2005 and 2012, a Hungarian scientist was again chosen as one of the awardees of the Abel Prize that is widely regarded as the Nobel Prize in mathematics”.
He wrote he was happy to learn that for their outstanding work in the fields of theoretical computer science and pure mathematics and their role in elevating them to central areas of modern-day mathematics, this year László Lovász and Avi Wigderson were awarded the world’s most prestigious prize in mathematics.
“Please allow me to take this opportunity to congratulate you on having been awarded the Abel Prize, and to wish you further happy years rich in scientific success and good health,” the Prime Minister wrote to Mr Lovász.
