All-day-long cabinet meeting held in Carmelite Monastery – “Enough of the flawed Brussels sanctions!”

Ahead of the two-day Brussels EU summit with topics of crucial importance from the viewpoint of Hungary’s energy security on the agenda, on Wednesday in the Carmelite Monastery, the full Government of Hungary led by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán as well as the ministers responsible for EU affairs separately are holding meetings all day long, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.
He said during a discussion of the proposals, it had become clear that Brussels’ latest proposal about the gas price cap, in its present form, amounted to a gas embargo for Hungary.
However, the flawed Brussels sanctions are already causing the Hungarian economy and Hungarian families an almost unbearable burden as they are; we have had enough of them, Mr Havasi said, outlining the government’s position, adding that accordingly, at the summit of EU heads of state and government to be held on Thursday and Friday, Mr Orbán will urge his counterparts to revise the wartime policy of sanctions and to place the sanctions on reasonable foundations.
