Hungarian businesses can find profitable opportunities in China
06. 11. 2018.
There will be room for Hungarian businesses in China, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stressed in Shanghai, in his speech opening the Hungarian country pavilion at the first China International Import Expo (CIIE).

On the last day of his visit to China, the Minister opened the pavilion of Hungary – exhibiting as one of the expo’s guests of honour – in the company of his attending ministers: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, Minister for Innovation and Technology László Palkovics and Minister of Agriculture István Nagy. At the Hungarian pavilion visitors can find Hungarian products, including food industry products, on display.

According to Mr Orbán, it makes us proud that we have succeeded in bridging the enormous distance between Hungary and China, as in consequence of this effort Hungarian businesses will be able to find profitable opportunities in China.

He mentioned his Monday talks with Chinese head of State Xi Jinping with whom he agreed, he said, that “together we will build a future in which there will also be room for Hungarian businesses in China”.

Mr Orbán also observed that Shanghai deserves the title “most Hungarian city in China” as architect László Hudec, who was born in Besztercebánya, designed several prestigious buildings in the Chinese city. In addition to his contribution, the works of several other Hungarians have also left their cultural impressions on Shanghai, he added.

The Shanghai expo is being held with the participation of more than 130 countries and regions, including Hungary, and some 2,800 companies are exhibiting at the event which will last until 10 November. In addition to Hungary, foreign guests of honour are Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa, Vietnam and Britain.
