The Prime Minister wrote in his message of condolences to Ranil Wickremesinghe – which was forwarded to the Hungarian news agency by Bertalan Havasi, the Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister – that he was shocked and deeply saddened to learn about the “monstrous terrorist attacks”.

“On behalf of the Hungarian people, I wish to offer my sincere condolences to relatives of the victims, and wish the hundreds of people who were injured in these base attacks a swift recovery,” Mr Orbán wrote.

“During these difficult hours of mourning, we stand with the people of Sri Lanka in our thoughts and prayers,” he added.

In the bombings carried out against hotels and Christian churches in several parts of Sri Lanka 207 people lost their lives, and a further 450 were injured. The island state’s government has imposed a curfew and blocked social media.
