It is important that we have access to multiple types of vaccines, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stressed on Thursday in a video conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó – who is at present in quarantine due to coronavirus infection – which was posted on the Prime Minister’s Facebook account.

In the video, in answer to Mr Orbán’s question, Mr Szijjártó said negotiations are most advanced in respect of the Russian vaccine. On Wednesday, the vaccine Sputnik was given the half-time report; the drug proved to be 92 per cent effective, he added.

He also said the Russian party will be able to send the first samples for the performance of laboratory tests within a week and a half.

In China, three companies are developing vaccines; the Hungarian party signed an agreement with the Chinese state manufacturer, the Minister said.

Mr Orbán indicated that Hungary is not doing badly as regards Western vaccines either, meaning that “this is not a question of one or the other, but a question of one and the other; we’ll be able to receive vaccines from every source”.
