Alexander de Croo was pleased to establish that they would have further opportunities to develop Hungarian-Belgian bilateral relations. He recalled that there was all the more need for cooperation because in 2024 Belgium would take over the European Union’s rotating presidency from Hungary.
In addition to bilateral relations, Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela, too, highlighted the importance of cooperation within the European Council on the basis of “mutual priorities and interests”.
In his congratulatory message, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala also wrote about the war in Ukraine, pointing out that an invasion launched against a sovereign and independent country must never be tolerated. The Czech Prime Minister was happy to acknowledge that Hungary is also part of the European solidarity demonstrated in connection with Ukraine. He additionally highlighted the issue of energy security which the current war has elevated to one of the most important challenges facing Europe.
In his message to Mr Orbán, Prime Minister of Romania Nicolae Ciuca stressed the importance of intensifying cooperation between NATO and the European Union in the context of the conflict in Ukraine.
In his congratulatory message, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic reassured the Hungarian Prime Minister that Serbia would remain a friend and a reliable, loyal and honest partner of the Hungarian people. “We will continue to fight for the common values and interests of Serbia and Hungary as well as our citizens, and will further strengthen our relations. We will continue to treat our minorities as a special priority as the people living on the two sides of our borders constitute the strongest and most valuable bridge between our countries,” President Vucic wrote.
