In his letter, the Catholic leader wrote the Diocese of Sisak was very badly affected by the earthquake at the end of December. Of all EU Member States, it was Hungary that provided the most comprehensive and swiftest assistance for us, the Bishop highlighted.
He recalled that representatives of the Hungarian Government had recently informed him that Hungary had decided on the construction of a new church in the settlement of Zazina where the earthquake had destroyed the old church, as well as on the construction of a new elementary school in Petrinja.
“I wish to take this opportunity to express my sincerest appreciation to you, and to thank for firmly standing up for national and Christian identity in the European Union. I would like our politicians in Croatia to represent our Catholic values and traditions with the same dedication,” Bishop Vlado Kosic wrote.
