The peace, stability and security of the Balkans are important for Hungary, and in this the Serbs living in the Bosnian Serb Republic play a key role, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told the press on Saturday after his talks in Banja Luka.

The Hungarian Prime Minister said on Saturday he paid a working visit to Banja Luka, the capital of Republika Srpska, returning the recent visit to Budapest of the entity’s political leader Milorad Dodik.

Mr Orbán highlighted that “Hungarian history makes it clear that what’s happening here also has an impact on us”.

The Prime Minister said it is also important to help with the development of the region. “We will extend our responsible neighbourhood and economic programme to the territory of the Bosnian Serb Republic as well, and with this we will also create an opportunity for Hungarian enterprises to find business here,” the Prime Minister stated.
