Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is receiving one congratulatory message after another from his foreign counterparts

On Monday, former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Prime Minister-President of Fidesz Viktor Orbán to congratulate him on Fidesz’s landslide, two-thirds election victory, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

The first person to congratulate the Prime Minister on the evening of the election was Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, he added. Chinese premier Li Keqiang and Russian head of state Vladimir Putin sent congratulatory telegrams, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him on Twitter, while Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger telephoned Mr Orbán to relay their congratulations.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa, Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik, Croatian President Zoran Milanovic and Czech President Milos Zeman congratulated the Hungarian Prime Minister in statements, while French candidate for president Marine Le Pen, President of the Spanish right-wing VOX party Santiago Abascal and leader of the Italian Lega Matteo Salvini sent congratulatory messages on Facebook after Fidesz’s victory, Mr Havasi said.
