In his laudation speech praising the decorated businessman, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said Osamu Suzuki is a great friend of our country and a strong ally in the ongoing development of economic cooperation between Hungary and Japan who through his work advocates the Hungarian people’s reputation all over the world.
Suzuki decided on its investment in Hungary at a time when such a decision took extraordinary courage and a great deal of advanced trust; for Hungary – that was in the process of escaping from communism at the time – this was an invaluable service, Mr Szijjártó said.
He added that Suzuki has played a crucial role in the fact that Hungary is now at the vanguard of the European automotive industry, and the Esztergom production numbers increasing year after year have contributed to the achievement that Hungary is now the 16th largest car exporter in the world based on the number of vehicles exported per annum.
