At the meeting, which was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, the parties confirmed that the robust presence of Hungarian capital in Montenegro and the fact that Hungary is a consistent supporter of Montenegro’s Euro-Atlantic integration are key to our bilateral relations.
At the meeting of Mr Orbán and Mr Dukanovic, the coronavirus pandemic was one of the most important items on the agenda. Mr Havasi recalled that also during the defence operations, the friendship and good cooperation of the two countries were evident as Hungary gifted 50,000 face masks, 2,500 protective gowns and 10,000 PCR tests to Montenegro.
The Hungarian Prime Minister and the Montenegrin head of state stressed that the virus can only be defeated with vaccination, and the economies of countries can only be restarted with vaccination. Therefore, Mr Orbán and Mr Dukanovic believe that the agreement reached at the end of April about the mutual recognition of immunity certificates issued by the Hungarian and Montenegrin authorities and the elimination of entry restrictions for immunity certificate holders is a great achievement.
