We are preparing for biggest sports event in Hungary’s history

On Sunday in the Carmelite Monastery, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Sebastian Coe had talks; the British sports executive came to Budapest to attend the World Aquatics Championships, but also used the opportunity to inform himself about the preparations for the World Athletics Championships to be held in Budapest next year, Bertalan Havasi, the Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

Budapest will host the world’s third largest sports event, the World Athletics Championships between 19 and 27 August 2023. This will be the biggest sports event in the history of Hungary with the participation of athletes from more than 200 countries, news of which will reach more than a billion people around the world, the press chief said.

Mr Orbán and Mr Coe expressed satisfaction with the organisation of the event, and established that everything was going to plan.

Also at this meeting, the IAAF President highlighted that a very competent team is working to ensure that the audience will have a fantastic time at the world championships.
