We will not surrender our common goals

On Friday in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan held bilateral talks, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

According to his information, the two leaders regarded the summit of Turkic states held in Samarkand as successful.

Regarding Hungarian-Turkish relations, Mr Orbán said they will not surrender their common goals during the present wartime crisis either. We are committed to strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations. We will continue and could even extend defence industry cooperation to new areas as well, the Prime Minister highlighted.

At the meeting, President Erdogan pointed out that Turkey would continue to provide a safe background for Hungary’s energy security also in the future.

In the context of the war in Ukraine, both leaders agreed that we would need a ceasefire, talks and peace within the shortest possible time.
