Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had preliminary talks with President of the European Council and his EU counterparts about topics of the upcoming EU summit

On Thursday morning, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had talks with President of the European Council Charles Michel and the Dutch and Latvian Prime Ministers in preparation for the EU summit to be held in Brussels next week, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief informed the Hungarian news agency MTI.

At the video conference, the parties reviewed the topics of the 24-25 May EU summit, open issues related to the national emission reduction goals to be achieved in the area of climate policy, the supply of vaccines to combat the coronavirus pandemic, vaccination programmes and the issue of vaccination certificates.

According to Mr Havasi’s information, they also spoke about foreign policy issues that will feature on the agenda of the EU summit, including a strategic approach to EU-Russia relations and the status of the implementation of the Brexit agreements.
