Bertalan Havasi, deputy secretary of state and head of the Prime Minister’s Press Office, said that prior announcements suggested that several other national leaders were expected to attend the ceremony – for example, Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev and President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.
On 24 June presidential and parliamentary elections were held in Turkey, with Mr. Erdogan winning 52.59 per cent of the vote. After the elections an executive presidential system is being introduced to replace the previous parliamentary system. This is in accordance with the wishes expressed by Turkish voters in a referendum in April last year.
